At Foliage Design Chicago, quality is an art form. Founded by landscape architect Kenny Gallt, we’ve spent 40 years transforming ordinary spaces into breathtaking landscapes. Our innovative approach goes beyond aesthetics; it’s about creating enriching outdoor environments. With a portfolio including some of Chicago’s iconic landmarks, we lead the industry in excellence and creativity.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide interior and exterior landscape services in the Chicagoland area, adding significant value beyond costs. We transform spaces through our landscaping expertise, focusing on environmental sustainability and aesthetic excellence. We strive to bring the benefits of plants back to our customers, including landscapes, green roofs, and sky gardens.

Founded in 1984, Foliage Design Chicago marked the beginning of a legacy in superior landscape architecture.

Kenneth Gallt
Meet Kenneth Gallt, the driving force behind Foliage Design Chicago. A Cornell and University of Michigan alumnus, Kenny launched the firm in 1984 after a decade of top-tier work at Church Landscape and the Chicago Botanic Gardens. His leadership extends beyond design; he served as President of the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association and was honored as ‘The Small Business Person of the Year’ by the Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce. A distinguished member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and a Charter Member of the Oakbrook Terrace Lions Club, Kenny Gallt elevates Foliage Design Chicago from a mere business to an industry standard-bearer.”
Sue Catalano
Meet Sue Catalano, the backbone of Foliage Design Chicago’s daily operations. Serving as the General Manager for two decades, she masterfully handles everything from project oversight to intricate paperwork. Her deep-rooted experience in the horticultural sector, spanning from Florida to Buffalo, New York, bestows an unparalleled trust in her capabilities among our clients.
Tim Papciak
As a Project Manager and Superintendent with a Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Illinois, his multi-faceted expertise extends from carpentry and electrical work to mechanical and structural know-how. An Eagle Scout at heart, Tim has honed his skills for six invaluable years with us, following a successful internship.
Jorge Orozco
Since 1998, Jorge has been a cornerstone of Foliage Design Chicago’s operations. His decade-long experience with Fertile Delta bolsters his unparalleled plant care and project management skills. Jorge is the go-to for new installations and customer relations.
Juan Ayala
With us since 2001, Juan specializes in high-end interior maintenance. From billionaires to exotic plants, his friendly and personalized approach ensures unparalleled care and customer satisfaction.
Alex Martinez
Since 2000, Alex has been our maintenance maestro, managing landscapes with up to 8,000 plants. Known for juggling major accounts and new installations, he’s the person to get things done.
Jorge Izquirdo
Affectionately known as “Little Jorge,” he’s been with us since he was 16. Recently dubbed the “Wizard,” his knack for machinery and problem-solving makes him invaluable in our most challenging projects.
